Namibia’s First Chess World Cup!

As the saying goes, there’s a first time for everything and this was most certainly the case for Namibia in the 2023 chess world cup event. Namibia was represented by our very own home grown Dante Beukes who had a match against Ivan Saric who gained his International Masters title in 2007.

Namibia exits Chess World Cup with heads held high. Yesterday Game 2. Dante Beukes had the black peices against Ivan Saric. After a superb Game 1 against Ivan Saric. Namibia needed a draw or Win for Game. Our result was a loss, and thus resulted in Namibia being knocked out. 1.5 – 0.5 Final Score.Namibia who was one of less than 5 African countries to score a point at the 2023 World Cup. Has performed beyond expectations. We now know, we can make it to a world class event and compete at a world class level.
Thank you International Master (IM) Dante Beukes.
